Join Eilidh Weir for a day of quilt making at Bowhouse.
Create a mini quilt using freeform quilt techniques, and embellish with appliquee and embroidery elements celebrating your favourite flowers, fruit or vegetables. You will be led through each step of stitching a quilt by hand, and finish with a wall quilt or place mat and the skills to scale up and create larger pieces.
All materials will be provided, although you are welcome to bring any fabrics you might like to include, including old clothes and textiles that have been pre loved.
Eilidh Weir is a textile artist, gardener and workshop facilitator whose work celebrates biodiversity, composting, community and care. Through joyful, practical sessions, Eilidh invites people to reimagine what’s “waste” and explore how creative reuse can nourish both planet and people.
All skill levels welcome, your quilt will be entirely hand stitched so the ability to hold a needle and stitch straight-ish line is all that’s needed. Wonky stitchers welcome!
There will be an opportunity to stop for lunch, we have our on-site cafe Baern, Stocks Kitchen, or alternatively bring a packed lunch.
