Information

Patrick Dunne is an Irish architect and director of Patrick Dunne Architects, based in Boyle. With over twenty years of experience, Patrick specialises in the sustainable renovation and reuse of protected structures and culturally significant landscapes for both public and private clients, as well as the design of contemporary new buildings.

The practice is based at Rockingham, where he works alongside his wife, Fiona Brugha, also an architect. They have led restoration projects within the nationally significant demesne landscape, including conservation works to ruined structures in Lough Key Forest Park. Their renovation of the historic Rockingham farm building, now their family home, was featured on RTÉ’s The Great House Revival.

This talk addresses the protection and sensitive renewal of Rockingham’s architectural heritage. It explores the importance of promoting the active reuse of buildings within the Forest Park, identifying the elements that contribute to the estate’s special character, and encouraging informed public discussion around what is necessary, appropriate, and sustainable for its future.
