Boyle Arts Festival is delighted to welcome rising soprano Carina Hughes for a recital showcasing some of the most beautiful and beloved works from opera, art song and musical theatre.
Originally from Carrick-on-Shannon, Carina is currently studying Vocal Performance at TU Dublin Conservatoire under the guidance of Máiréad Buicke and Richard McGrath. She has recently appeared in TU Dublin productions of Albert Herring and Dido and Aeneas, earning recognition for her expressive performances and vocal artistry.
This varied programme highlights Carina's versatility as a performer, featuring sparkling operatic arias by Handel, Mozart, Haydn and Menotti, alongside evocative songs by Schubert and Poulenc, the timeless Irish favourite Gortnamona by Percy French, and much-loved selections from musical theatre including The Mikado and Carousel.
Carina will be joined by pianist, Orlaith Sharkey, a sought-after accompanist and collaborative artist working with choirs, singers and opera productions across the country.
Combining elegance, humour, drama and romance, this recital offers audiences an opportunity to enjoy a rich and engaging journey through some of the finest vocal music ever written, performed by one of the region's most promising young singers.
