Róise Nà Laoire is an accomplished young harpist currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at the TU Dublin Conservatoire under the tutelage of renowned harpist Rosanna Moore.
Raised in a musical household, Róise developed an early appreciation for both classical and traditional Irish music, influences that continue to shape and inform her performance repertoire.
She has received recognition at a number of national and international competitions, including the Poppy Harp Competition, the North London Music Festival, and most recently the Castleknock Music Competition. Her musical development has also been enriched through masterclasses with distinguished harpists such as Geraldine O’Doherty, Molly O’Roark, and Emmanuel Ceysson.
An experienced ensemble musician, Róise served as principal harpist with both the Ulster Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland during the 2025 season. She is also an active member of the TU Dublin Harp Ensemble and the Harp Ireland Harp Ensemble, and regularly performs as part of Harp Ireland events and concerts.
This recital brings together music for both pedal and lever harp in a programme that highlights the richness, versatility, and expressive range of the instrument across different traditions and eras. Featuring mainly 20th- and 21st-century works, the programme includes music by Irish, Scottish, Cuban, French, British, and American composers, with a particular emphasis on works by female composers.
Rooted in folk traditions, each piece draws inspiration from dance rhythms, traditional melodies, and regional musical styles. From centuries-old Irish airs to contemporary compositions, the recital offers audiences a musical journey shaped by the sounds and stories of cultures from around the world.
