Information

Join acclaimed Roscommon GAA historian Tony Conboy for a fascinating journey through the history of Roscommon football, from its earliest beginnings to the present day.

Filmed and presented by documentary filmmaker Ronan Carley, this engaging documentary interview explores the triumphs, challenges and unforgettable characters that have shaped the story of Roscommon GAA. Particular attention is given to the legendary Roscommon teams of the 1940s, whose back-to-back All-Ireland Senior Football Championship victories in 1943 and 1944 secured their place in sporting history.

Drawing on decades of research and a lifelong passion for the game, Tony shares a wealth of stories, insights and little-known anecdotes, bringing the rich heritage of the Primrose and Blue vividly to life.

The film is directed by Ronan Carley, a Roscommon-born primary school teacher and documentary filmmaker whose previous works include Roscommon Revealed, An Bealach go Baile Ghib and Fr Browne – A Life of Service.

A must-see event for GAA supporters, local history enthusiasts and anyone interested in the sporting heritage of County Roscommon.
