The Monica’s began over 20 years ago from an idea by their late friend Frank Molloy, who envisioned an alternative music session that would welcome a wide range of genres, including folk, blues, country, Americana and rock. After moving between several venues, the session found its permanent home in Monica’s Pub, Drumshanbo, in 2015.
Since then, The Monica’s has become a vibrant musical community, with 35 to 40 singers and musicians developing their talents through the session, some going on to pursue wider opportunities in the music industry.
Today, The Monica’s collective includes 15 members, with 11 collaborating for this special performance. Their eclectic repertoire and shared love of music create a lively, warm and entertaining show full of character and heart.
Performers: Paul Murphy, Seán Connaughton, Seán O’Boyle, Dave Foley, Maurice Gannon, Valerie Casey, Catherine Bolger, Mairéad Kelly, Eamonn Dunne, Radley Searle and Declan Murray.
