Xiaoqi Sheng is a pianist pursuing a Master of Music in Performance degree at TU Dublin Conservatoire with Dr. David Mooney. Her current focus is French Impressionism, especially the piano works of Debussy and Ravel, where she explores refined pedalling, layered colour and the orchestral imagination that underlies much of Ravel’s writing.
An upcoming project is a lecture-recital on Debussy’s Images oubliées, combining performance with reflection on sound, texture and narrative.
Previously, Xiaoqi completed a Master of Music degree in Piano with distinction at the Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Directing at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music in China. She was awarded Third Prize in the Wuhan Conservatory Classical Piano Sonata Competition.
In recent years she has appeared in solo and chamber concerts in Germany and China, and has participated in masterclasses with Alla Blatow and Gabriele Leporatti. Under the long-term guidance of David Mooney, Gerrit Zitterbart, Hanna Shyvayeva and other mentors, she has developed a performance approach centred on colour, clarity and narrative flow.
