From 31 May – 4 June 2023, we’ll be transforming the former Scottish Widows office complex on Dalkeith Road in Edinburgh for a five-day spectacular event set to be more immersive and atmospheric than any Hidden Door so far.

Environments: collaborative projects
Hidden Door has commissioned stand-out artists from last year’s festival to create a series of Environments for you to explore as you venture deeper into The Complex at 15 Dalkeith Road. Environments run on all five nights of the festival.

Music
An eclectic mix of bands will be filling three performance spaces, bringing almost every genre of music to the event.

Tonight's line-up: Nine8 / Frozemode / Spenser Mason / Jelani Blackman / Queen of Harps / Goodnight Louisa / Peplo / Blush Club / Late Night Party with Fat Dog + EPiKA presents ona:v, Dark Ali and Violet Haze in the Club Space

Visual Art
On display inside The Complex for the duration of Hidden Door Festival will be visual art from a wide range of artists practising in Scotland, much of which will explore the same issues as the Environments.

Spoken Word
This year’s poetry and spoken word programme will showcase a diverse group of new and developing performers from across Scotland and beyond.

Tonight's line-up: Queer Latinx writer Andrés N Ordorica share his writing on the diasporic experience, and Ross McCleary performs his piece advocating for refilling of the Nor Loch. Edinburgh-based US poet Allie Kerper will also perform. Annaliese Broughton also features, fresh from being part of BBC Words First.

Hidden Door opens up forgotten urban spaces for the public to explore and discover incredible music, art, theatre, film, dance, spoken word and more. Through our festivals we reveal hidden parts of the city and showcase new and emerging artists, musicians, theatre and film makers.

Hidden Door is a volunteer-run charity, with our work funded through ticket sales, sponsorship and fundraising. All money goes straight back into the festival and paying our creative contributors.
