After many great and unique collaborations across a range of music genres, Senegalese kora player and singer Ablaye Cissoko surprises us again by pairing this time with French accordion player Cyrille Brotto at the Crescent Arts Centre
Singer and kora player Ablaye Cissoko is a part of new generation of artists from Senegal. Son of a Griot, living in Saint Louis in Senegal, Ablaye incarnates the crossover between Mandinka traditions and contemporary musical creation. Recognized as a world reference on the kora alongside the late Toumani Diabaté and Ballaké Sissoko, he is also regarded as one of the great singers in West Africa with a 20-year musical career and 14 albums released.
As for Cyrille, he is easily the most sought-after diatonic accordionist in Europe. Creative and curious, his musical career spans more than twenty years. His ability to transport us into sensitive, rich, and diverse musical universes makes him a unique and captivating artist.
Together their busy touring schedule has seen them perform over 100 concerts since 2022, in France, USA, Canada, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Mexico among others, and we cannot wait to welcome this duo to Northern Ireland for the first time.
