New work from acclaimed Scottish pianist inspired by the landscapes and narratives at the heart of his musical world.
We are delighted to welcome Mercury-shortlisted and globally acclaimed artist, Fergus McCreadie as he performs Flight Pass – a new work for classical piano trio.
Inspired by the landscapes and narratives at the heart of his musical world, Flight Pass takes its title from one of McCreadie’s favourite photographs, which features a black winged kite and two of his offspring fighting over some recently caught prey in the middle of the sky.
This work marks an exciting evolution in his writing, extending his musical language into a new chamber setting while retaining the melodic clarity, rhythmic lift and storytelling that defines his music.
Fergus was catapulted into the international spotlight with the release of his 2022 Mercury Nominated album ‘Forest Floor’ (Edition Records). Blending jazz with the spirit of Scottish folk, McCreadie crafts music inspired by his homeland’s breath-taking landscapes. His sound transcends genre and has connected deeply with audiences worldwide including film maker Spike Lee, who had him score his 2025 film ‘Highest 2 Lowest’.
In Flight Pass, McCreadie now brings that signature sound into a fresh chamber setting for an unmissable performance at the Belfast International Arts Festival, bursting with colour and storytelling.
Flight Pass was co-commissioned by Chamber Music Scotland and Kings Place.
