Susannah Stark celebrates her new album Minor Gestures (Stroom/Night School) with friends Alliyah Enyo, Cindy Islam and Harry Gorsky Brown
Susannah Stark celebrates the arrival of her second album Minor Gestures (Stroom/Night School), recorded in Glasgow with a team of seasoned friends and musicians within earshot of the Govan Stones and the surroundings that inspired it.
Alliyah Enyo's ever-evolving practice folds pillows of sound in on themselves, creating stirring, emotive movements that rise and fall in the spaces between. Her recent album Selkie Reflections for Somewhere Press has developed her soundworld with new resonances and textures.
Through their work, Glasgow-based Iraqi musician Cindy Islam explores the intersection of sound, language and spirituality. With heightened drones and using warping sound techniques infused with samples of Arabic language, her music serves as an opportunity to hear and feel Allah in secular spaces for all listeners.
Harry Gorsky Brown's music is an enchanting mix of voice, pipes, fiddle and other acoustic instruments meeting electronics. Durt Dronemaker After Dreamboats, released on GLARC in 2024, is a prescient collection of songs enmeshed with drone, Gaelic language and an embrace - and subversion of - tradition.
We hope you can join us for this special evening.
