Vinyl Listening Sessions 08 // Islamic Music

Vol. 8 of the Vinyl Listening Sessions explores Islamic music. From Ali Shaheed Muhammad(A Tribe Called Quest) to Yusef Lateef, Islamic musicians have played a key role in some of music's most important movements.

3:00pm ‐ 4:00pm
Pianodrome Bruntsfield
St. Oswald's Centre, 41 Montpellier Park, Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, EH10 4NB

Information

Doors open 30mins prior to listed event start time.

About:
At a time when increasing amounts of misinformation are being spread about Islam, this session is a chance to celebrate the stories of some of the great Islamic artists who too often go underappreciated.

Mark is one half of Greenhouse Records and host of The Pickle Community Radio. Their passion for music and its connections with culture and people has led them down many a rabbit hole, picking up songs and stories from around the world.

With a new theme each month, the listening sessions will focus on music that is not only beautiful to listen to but that also tells a story about the time and place in which it was made. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the music!
