The trio draws inspiration from classic jazz organ/guitar trios of the 1960s, like those featuring Kenny Burrell & Jimmy Smith, Grant Green & Larry Young, and Wes Montgomery& Melvin Rhyne. They perform their own takes on classic tunes, including songs by the Beatles, The Doors, Curtis Mayfield, and Kate Bush. Their music combines elements of swing, grooves, and improvisation.
Cartwright herself is an acclaimed guitarist, known for her melodic, funky and hard-swinging style. She gained recognition for presenting the BBC TV series "Rockschool" and has also played with the Afro Latin Jazz group The Guest Stars. Critics have lauded her playing as "one of the most complete in contemporary music".

The trio's performances emphasize skillful interplay and musicianship. They mix interpretations of classics with original compositions, ranging from samba and blues/funk to modern songs with strong grooves. Cartwright often incorporates modern songs with a strong groove that have also stood the test of time, drawing parallels to the way jazz greats transformed popular songs into classics.
