Adam Hart: Operation Pimento

Adam Hart retraces his great-grandfather’s daring WWII escape from Nazi-occupied France in this true tale of bravery and survival.

Information

On the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two, Adam Hart tells the cracking story of his Great-grandfather's Great Escape. In August 1943, Squadron Leader Frank Griffiths’ plane crashed in occupied France and he began a 1400-mile, 108-day, escape from the Nazis. Helped by ordinary people, he made his way to Gibraltar via a Frenchwoman's chimney, the attic of a brothel and a Spanish prison cell, not to mention an arduous trek over the Pyrenees. 79 years later, his steps have been retraced by Adam, who made it his mission to track down the descendants of those who risked, and in some cases gave their lives, to make sure Frank came home. Had they failed, this extraordinary story would never have been told.
