Henry Borthwick's A Journey from Oxton to Fala uncovers dormant tales of Hollywood actors, witches, and outlaws from Borders parishes where his family has lived since 1458.
Tales about a Hollywood actor, the witch on Soutra, a ploughing champion from Oxton and the US president who named his dog after a Falahill outlaw can all be found in Henry Borthwick’s latest book A Journey from Oxton to Fala. Many of the stories have remained dormant or unprinted until now. Henry’s family has lived in the parishes of Channelkirk and Fala since 1458. True to his farming and Borders roots, he sums his work up well, like a sheepdog rounding up stray stories before they disappear. Join Henry in conversation with his son Malcolm to learn more about the heroes and villains who lived in these Borders parishes.
