Edinburgh midwife Linda McDonald OBE began selling recipe books in 2005 to help mothers in Malawi. Over 55,000 copies sold in 12 years, drawing her deeper into women's lives there.
Linda McDonald OBE, an experienced Edinburgh midwife, dismayed by conditions for mothers and babies in a maternity unit in Malawi, thought she might sell a few recipe books to raise money to improve their lives. The first MUMs (Malawi Underprivileged Mothers) recipe book was published for Christmas 2005. Its unforeseen success (over 55,000 books were sold in 12 years) drew Linda and her team of family, friends and contacts ever closer into women’s lives in Malawi. All The Women is an inspirational story of how, from Scotland to Malawi, ordinary people strove to make a positive difference to the lives of women and children in most need. It is honest about the challenges faced, but also about the unforeseen joys.
