Information

Craig Aitchison is an award-winning Borders poet, who will launch his long poem about the River Tweed at the Borders Book Festival. He has won the Wigtown Prize for Poetry in Scots and the Badenoch Prize and in 2023 was selected for a New Writers Award by the Scottish Book Trust. American poet William Carlos Williams coined the famous maxim, ‘no ideas but in things’. To successfully convey emotions and ideas in poetry, it helps to ground them firmly in the things of the world. In this workshop Craig guides you to produce a poem about an object that holds value for you.
