Evening of alternative music and from Harpist Aurora Engine with sets also from Eleanor Adams, Ash DIckinson Poet, Cath Stephens and Paul Grainger
An evening of music from North East musicians!
AURORA ENGINE - HARPIST / PIANIST / SONGWRITER / ELECTRONICS
Fusing real instruments (harp / piano), voice and progressive electronica, Aurora Engine encapsulates a singular and striking sonic landscape. Inventive, innovative, her lyrics brim with magic realism, their jauntiness counterbalanced by darker themes of contemporary relevance. Expect tales of imaginary friends, miniaturists, the porn industry, and drunken brawls, often delivered with humour and candour. Sculpting soundscapes from found sounds, inside pianos and outside the mainstream, Aurora Engine composes thrilling, spine-chilling music. Originally from the North-east, she sings in a geordie-tinged dialect. Her work has been likened to compelling artists such as Bjork, Kate Bush and Anna Meredith

ELEANOR ADAMS
Trained in a church choir from the age of 9, Eleanor Adams first picked up a guitar at 18, after hearing Joni Mitchell’s Blue. Mitchell’s open tunings and custom chord shapes inspire Eleanor’s own guitar playing, which is largely self-taught. A very internal thinker, her lyrics question the world she sees around her and the people she meets, expressing sentiments which may not otherwise be shared. Since October 2022, Eleanor has been performing as part of CITRUS, an alt-rock group formed whilst its members studied music at Newcastle University. With a sound drawing comparisons to The Cranberries, the band play regularly across the North-East and released their debut EP ‘Away From Home’ in May 2024
CATH STEPHENS and PAUL GRAINGER
Cath and Paul combine double bass and vocals to weave a unique tapestry of jazz, folk and original songs telling some of their favourite stories. This new project focusses on a sparse, stripped back approach to arrangements and the duo have a keen interest in storytelling through a feminist lens. This set will feature a special guest performance from the delightful Anna Heslop.
