Information

A disillusioned union representative is given a seemingly open-and-shut case, only to doubt the fairness of proceedings as the disciplinary investigation proceeds.

"This story is drawn from my lived experience working as a trade union representative, with a true-to-life reflection of retail policy and the frustrations that stem from it. I wanted the setting and the dynamic between characters to feel as authentic as possible, to create a sort of intimately scaled courtroom drama that plays out in real time the way an investigation would. "

Ben Ramsay is a writer and dramaturg from Kirkcaldy, Fife, passionate about exploring stories that reflect working class life in Scotland and the ongoing fight for industrial recognition. He began his career with crime comedy Reservoir Knobs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and recently he has worked with organisations such as the Almeida Theatre, Playwright's Studio Scotland and Cove Park. His previous play, The Stag and The Hound, was staged in both Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy, as well as being shortlisted for the Alpine prize.
