Three short plays from Borders Youth Theatre
Pyramid Mandemonium
by Lily Peden
I've always loved seeing the process of plays coming to life and when this competition came along I thought that this could be my chance to be creative myself. I am 14 years old and have loved drama all my life, I have been in many productions and musicals and have seen many more. This is something I would love to continue into the future. This is a great opportunity to be involved in another element of drama that I haven't explored before.
I wrote bits of lots of different plays before I settled on this one.
The One Lady Walked
by Mabel Peden
I am Mabel Peden and I am 12 years old. I came into drama when I was 7 and then it carried on from there. I have acted in a musical, a music video and 6 performances with Borders Youth Theatre, one of which was at Duns Play Fest.
Being in BYT shows and going to weekly workshops helped me know how to write stage directions in my play. I love going to the theatre. I got the idea for my play from films and theatre shows I have seen or heard about, but I wanted to make mine a little different.
The Mission
by Nicholas Harrison
Hello, I'm Nicholas, and I am the author of The Mission. I am 13 years old, and this is the first play I have written. I have been part of Borders Youth Theatre (BYT) for 2 and a half years, I am an actor, aspiring entrepreneur and now I have had the opportunity to write this play. I can’t wait to see it performed as part of the Duns Play Fest. I love acting because I enjoy entertaining people and writing a play is another exciting way to do that. The Mission was inspired by movies, stories and emotions. I am really looking forward to seeing my Bounty Hunter and my Bandits brought to life, and I hope you are entertained.
