A short guided walk around this fascinating industrial museum
Join us for a walk around Prestongrange Museum and explore the site of the former brickworks, glassworks, pottery and coal mine. Have a look inside the 150 year old Cornish beam engine and see the collection of railway locomotives and wagons housed in the brand new engine shed.
The visitor centre and café will be open for the sale of hot and cold drinks and snacks.
Accessibility information
There are seven concrete steps outdoors with a handrail to get to the Hoffman kiln at the start of the tour or the route can be varied to suit.
There are six wooden steps to get into the Cornish beam engine house with a handrail. People wanting to avoid steps can wait outside the engine house and we will provide photos of the interior. Inside, there are 2 flights of steep wooden stairs, with bannisters. However you can view the beam engine well from the ground floor, without having to climb these 2 flights.
Walkers will also have to cross a railway track to get to the glassworks site.
