Older people make a huge contribution to society and the economy, but research shows that in Scotland the majority feel undervalued, feel it’s hard to be heard by decision makers, and face serious challenges – from low incomes and rising living costs, to struggles accessing the health and social care they need. Marion Scott is the multi-award-winning chief reporter at The Sunday Post whose ‘Oor big braw community’ campaign, highlights the catastrophic public health dangers facing society if we continue to ignore the effects of loneliness and isolation on our older people. The prominent campaigner, broadcaster and top -selling author is at the forefront of raising public and political awareness on many issues through her investigations and features.
Katherine Crawford joined Age Scotland as Chief Executive in July 2023, bringing 20 years of experience in the charity sector working with Parkinson’s UK. Katherine has seen first-hand the challenges older people can face through and brings her blend of experience in influencing, campaigning and leading strategic change to continue shaping and delivering services that drive the charity’s work forwards.
