It is timely to reflect on this past global conflict and the threat and instability of current geopolitics that may lead to future conflict. With threats from land, sea, air and now space and technology, war could be on multiple fronts. How realistic is the prospect of European conflict and how do we stop escalation?

Professor Richard Rose is the founder-director of the Centre for the Study of Public Policy at the University of Strathclyde and is internationally known for his books about important issues of public policy in Europe, the United States and further afield, and has recently published his latest book, European Security: From Ukraine to Washington. Richard Rose is a professor at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, and a visiting fellow for several international universities, including Stanford and the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC.
Dr Benjamin Martill is Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Edinburgh and Associate Director of the Europa Institute. His research focuses on the politics of foreign and security policy, with a particular focus on UK-EU relations post-Brexit and European responses to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
