We welcome special guest Ian Hislop to Fringe by the Sea to share his stories and insights of life in the Private Eye.
Renowned comedian, author and broadcaster Ian Hislop is the iconic Editor of magazine 'Private Eye' and captain of long-standing TV series 'Have I Got News For You'.
We're delighted to welcome Ian to Fringe by the Sea for an intimate conversation exploring the stories and insights from his remarkable career spanning more than 40 years.
After studying English Literature at Oxford University, Ian was appointed editor of the satirical 'Private Eye' in 1986, guiding it to both critical acclaim and commercial success. With his signature wit and satirical approach, Ian offers sharp social and political commentary through investigative journalism. Published fortnightly, Private Eye maintains a loyal leadership of over 700,000 and is known for its annual edition, authored by Ian in recent years.
Beyond journalism, Ian has showcased his talents as a playwright, writing acclaimed works such as A Bunch of Amateurs, Trial by Laughter and The Wiper Times. Ian has also produced many celebrated documentaries for BBC Television and BBC Radio 4 across history, literature, and comedy.
Ian will be available for a (time-limited) book signing after the event. His book will be available to purchase at the event during Fringe by the Sea (31st July-9 August) through Night Owl Books.
This is a seated event. The Big Top venue is wheelchair accessible.
