Join our knowledgeable volunteer guide as they lead you around the walled garden at Hospitalfield. Designed by the horticulturalist Nigel Dunnett, and opened to the public in 2021. Our gardener has been working on the development of a new medicinal garden.
Our Physic Garden consists of 16 rectangular beds laid out in a traditional monastic quadrant. The beds are filled with medicinal herbs, many of which may also be considered ‘monastic’ as many would have been cultivated in monasteries or foraged by the monks living in them.
