Morven McArdle (formerly Morven and the McArdles) is a Scottish classically trained pianist and songwriter making alternative music that sits between playfulness and intensity. Her songs pair rhythm-focused, intertwining instrumental lines with lyrics that tend toward the dark and overthought. Influenced by Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, Stereolab, and Fiona Apple, her music drifts through indie rock, art pop, and contemporary jazz, rarely settling and generally meaning to.
