Florian Arbenz (percussion), Greg Osby (saxophone)
With their new project ‘Reflections of the Eternal Line’, Florian Arbenz and Greg Osby venture into new artistic territory, having been inspired by the latest series of paintings by renowned Swiss artist Stephan Spicher and his exploration of the infinite line and dialogue between the colours red and black.
This idea lends itself to music perfectly, as Osby’s expansive, floating melodies unfold fully against the backdrop of Arbenz’s dynamic and imaginative drumming, while Arbenz’s nuanced, melodic percussion beautifully highlights Osby’s crystal-clear lines.
In addition to a conventional drum set, Florian Arbenz incorporates rare and unusual instruments—such as multiple kalimbas, a massive Balinese gong, and a string bow—adding unique textures and depth to the soundscape.
Greg Osby and Florian Arbenz have been collaborating regularly since 1998, performing together in hundreds of concerts around the world. Their deep musical understanding and shared artistic vision are the foundation of this exceptional duo.
‘Reflections of the Eternal Line’ is a captivating dialogue between two impeccably attuned musicians, who, as it happens, even share the same birthday.
