Support Feya and her band as she launches her debut album Divergence at the Granton Pianodrome.
Trad flute and whistle player Freya Rae creates vibrant new compositions informed by her immersion in traditional music. Freya's laser quick fingers and tune-smithery are impressive enough on their own, but for this very special album launch she'll be joined by a delightfully skilled set of musicians who will help her bring her unique sound to the stage. Her core trio features percussionist Tim Lane and Siannie Moodie on Clarsach. They will be joined by Eryn Rae on fiddle.
Opening for the band, award-winning songwriter Josie Duncan will serenade us with her homegrown celt-pop tunes.
More about Divergence
Divergence is a project led by Freya Rae on flute, whistles and clarinet. Joined by Siannie Moodie on clarsach and Tim Lane (Hidden Orchestra) on kit, percussion and the tongue drum, the trio take Freya's own traditionally inspired melodies and twist them into sets and riffs using acoustic instruments and electronic effects. Guest artist from the album Eryn Rae will be joining for this one off launch gig!
Divergence is so named because the band seeks to promote the use of non-traditional instruments in traditional music. These include the silver boehm system flute, clarinet and the tongue drum. Their aim is to encourage inclusivity, progression and acceptance in traditional music.
