"You can ask the women in the Ladies Toilets for anything from a tampon to a murder and they'll do their best for you”
Gail Wylie, Glasgow Poet
Imagine the women of Thelma and Louise planned a caper worthy of The Sting against a backdrop of famous Edinburgh landmarks - and the big Tesco.
In the Ladies bathroom of a fancy Edinburgh restaurant a distressed young woman bursts into tears. The women who gather round to find out if Bruna’s ok don’t know her or each other but, as her story unfolds, they agree to help. How will a pensioner, a young student and the mother of a new baby stage a con so that Bruna can disappear, leaving no trace for her furious husband to follow? Committing to their plan pushes all the women beyond their comfort zones and the law but hell hath no fury like a woman scunnered or the resourcefulness of the Central Edinburgh Limited Mobility Elders Zumba Club.
This is a lively, informal, one off, script-in-hand performance of a new dark comedy screenplay and theatre work by award winning writer/director Sandy Thomson inspired by her work with Women’s Aid.
