About the Artists:

Sgo is a musical partnership between sisters Steaph and Ciorstaidh Chaimbeul, originally from the Isle of Skye, Scotland. The duo explores the expressive capabilities of the harp, accordion, and voice to create original compositions. Their work draws on their Gaelic upbringing and identity, blending chamber music, sound design, and storytelling. Together, they have performed across the UK and internationally, including appearances at Blas Festival, PanCeltic Festival, and HebCelt Festival. They are both currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Sgo will perform music from their upcoming debut album, which explores the ogham alphabet and its symbolism in Gaelic Culture.

‘Sgo create a unique sound world with a deep-rootedness in Scottish traditional music, language and folklore, furthering the possibilities of these traditions through sonic experimentation and immersion.’ - Linda Buckley, Composer.

Gaelic Translation:

'S e còmhlan co-obrachaidh eadar dà phiuthar às an Eilean Sgitheanach, Steaphanaidh agus Ciorstaidh Chaimbeul, a th' anns a' bhuidheann 'Sgò'.

Tha an dithis aca a' colamadh ceòl na clàrsaich, ceòl a' bhocsa agus ceòl an guthan ann a bhith a cruthachadh ceòl ùr. Ach ceòl a tha freumhaichte gu daingeann anns an dùthchas Gàidhlig aca fhèin, a' fighe eòlas clasaigeach, farsaingeachd fuaim agus seanchas nan sgeòil ann am pàtrain nuadh.

Tha Steaph agus Ciorstaidh air an cuid ciùil a chluich fad is farsaing agus air cuirmean a chluich aig Fèis Cheilteach Innse Gall, aig Fèis Pan Ceilteach na h-Èireann agus aig Fèis Blas air feadh na Gàidhealtachd.

Tha an dithis aca an-dràsta stèidhichte ann an Copenhagen san Danmhairc, far an do cheumnaich iad le Àrd Urram ann Ceòl bho Acadamaidh Ciùil Rìoghail na Danmhairc.

Bidh an còmhlan 'Sgo' a cluich ceòl bhon a chlàr ùr aca. Ceòl ealanta a chruthaich Steaph agus Ciorstaidh stèidhichte air an t-seann aibidil Ogham, agus na bha agus na tha a’ chainnt sin a’ comharrachadh agus a’ samhlachadh ann an cultair beò nan Gàidheal.

Thuirt an ceòladair Èireannach Lindsay Buckley, 'Tha Sgo air ceòl ùr a chruthachadh freumhaichte ann an cànan agus ann am beul-aithris agus ann an ceòl dùthchasach na h-Alba, a bhuineas cuideachd do dh’Èirinn. Ùrachadh iongantach air ceòl agus sgeulachd nan Gàidheal.’
