Saxophonist Zack Moir and double bass player Roberto Cassani come together for an improvised duo performance at Pianodrome Bruntsfield.
Artist info
Saxophonist and multimedia artist Zack Moir and double bass player Roberto Cassani come together for an improvised duo performance rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and exploration. Drawing on jazz, free improvisation, ambient electronics, and soundscape, their music experiments with texture, atmosphere, and the reimagining of conventional instrumental roles.
Zack Moir works across acoustic and electronic sound, with a practice shaped by timbre, ambience, and the slow shaping of evolving sound worlds. His performances explore how improvisation can open spaces for uncertainty, subtlety, and musical exchange, bringing saxophone and ambient music into close conversation.
Roberto Cassani is a double bass player and improviser whose work centres on collaboration as a source of energy and connection. Performing with musicians internationally, his playing is marked by responsiveness, openness, and a belief in the joy that emerges when music is made collectively and without pre-scripted
outcomes.
The performance draws on material from their forthcoming album Anaglyph, developed through improvisation and attentive collaboration, where acoustic instruments and electronics coexist in a shifting, spacious sound world.
Set within the beautiful reverberant space of Pianodrome, this is an invitation to slow down, listen closely, and experience music as it takes shape - unfixed, immersive, and shaped by the room, the musicians, and the moment.
