A collection of whiskies which started as ‘what ifs?’, revealing a hidden side to Speyside single malts. What if one of Speyside’s most complex whiskies revealed its smoky side, or if the distillery whose stillhouse aroma was reminiscent of tangerines experimented with a different strain of yeast? What would happen if we made our butts out of a different species of oak, or you filled spirit into experimentally treated casks? Join our whisky specialist James Rogerson as he takes you through a journey revealing a secret side of Speyside, and some of the stories behind their creation.

James is someone who loves Scotch whisky. The taste, the story, the history, and the joy of working in an industry where no two days ever feel the same.
His day-to-day focus in on innovation, single malts and cask maturation, and is part of Diageo’s Whisky Specialist Team based in Menstrie. His days are largely taken up nosing cask sample after cask sample, allowing the creation of new single malt innovations and cask experiments, as well as looking after and maintaining various whiskies within Diageo’s single malt portfolio.
