At The Macallan, the journey of a cask is a carefully orchestrated process that begins years before whisky ever touches wood—and continues long after the spirit is laid down to mature. Each cask is designed to shape character, depth, and flavour, making it one of the most critical elements in The Macallan’s whisky making philosophy.

From acorn to glass, learn about the incredible journey in preparing each cask for arrival in Speyside, to be ready for The Macallan’s new make spirit during maturation, and about the exacting attention to detail given to each cask in our care.

This experience invites guests into rarely seen parts of The Macallan Estate encompassing cask storage to discover more. Spend time within a traditional dunnage warehouse where casks lie at rest.

Getting here: There is no public transport going directly to The Macallan. Taxis are recommended to be booked in advance and designated drivers should book a designated driver ticket to receive a complimentary driver kit.
