Join host Don Sloan for a 90-min Q&A exploring how Stranraer Oyster Festival sparked a decade of community-led regeneration, turning the town's fortunes around since the ferries left.
For more than a century, Stranraer's story was tied to the ferries. When the ferry port left in 2011, it took the town's confidence with it. In 2016 the community started plans for a project designed to change the story of Stranraer, built around an asset most local people didn't even know existed.
In the decade that’s followed, Stranraer Oyster Festival has become one of the most distinctive food festivals in the UK, but its real legacy runs deeper than the festival itself. The festival has been the catalyst for a wider story of community-led regeneration, giving the town the confidence to imagine, and build, a different future.
Join host Don Sloan for a conversation exploring what it takes to turn a community's fortunes around, and what other places might learn from Stranraer's example. Speakers to be announced.
