Elaine and Julia of Stranraer History Trust bring the town's past to life with A Peep at the Past, featuring photos from the Nelson MacDonald Collection. Well-researched local stories, told with humour and heart.
Stranraer History Trust was founded in 1998 and is run entirely by volunteers, dedicated to researching, recording and publishing the local history of Stranraer and the surrounding district. Since its founding, the Trust has sold over 40,000 books and built an archive of recorded discs, tapes and manuscripts capturing the working life, leisure and stories of the people of this corner of Scotland.
This year's session, A Peep at the Past, brings that history vividly to life, accompanied by photographs from the Nelson MacDonald Collection. Elaine and Julia combine well-researched local stories with humour and heartfelt moments, for a session that's as entertaining as it is informative.
Whether you're a lifelong local or visiting Stranraer for the first time, this is a chance to see the town through fresh eyes, and discover the stories behind the streets you've been walking all weekend.
