Learn how to make your harvest go further at this informal skill-sharing session on dehydrating food.
Led by Rose Benoy, local smallholder and owner of Rosehip EcoLiving, we'll be talking through dehydration techniques, learning how to make our seasonal food last longer.
We'll cover making fruit leathers (roll ups or fruit jerky), produce-based condiments and seasonings, such as superfood powders and vegetable bouillon, and 'instant soups'.
We'll also cover the principles of dehydrating meat, eggs and cheese - how, when, and why, plus a little bit of food safety in the context of dried foods.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, or those who want to explore or expand their knowledge of food preservation further.
We'll have a relaxed approach with plenty of opportunity for discussion blended with practical activity.
Tea and coffee will be provided, but feel free to bring along your own drink and snack if you like.
