Playtime Live in the Village Hall - with Brian Kellock

Live jazz in the Village Hall by the Fab Four with the wonderful pianist Brian Kellock

8:15pm ‐ 10:30pm
Pathhead Village Hall
11 Main St, Pathhead, EH37 5PZ

Information

Musical fireworks are guaranteed as peerless, legendary pianist Brian Kellock makes a welcome return to Playtime! He'll be joined by Martin Kershaw (saxes), Graeme Stephen (guitar), Mario Caribe (bass) and Tom Bancroft (drums), with a programme of classic standards that will bring joy to your ears and balm to your souls!

The concert will be LIVE at Pathhead Village Hall (11 Main Street, Pathhead, EH37 5PZ) on Friday 5 November at 8.15pm (doors 7.30pm).

Please note tickets are for entry to the concert at Pathhead Village Hall ONLY, NOT the livestream.

The audience will be spread around the hall seated in households/parties. To make this easier and look/feel better we won’t be using tables. Feel free to bring something portable to rest your drinks on!

Naturally, whilst we are delighted to be able to welcome you to Pathhead Village Hall, there are still a number of Covid restrictions we would request you follow:

• Physical distancing must be observed for the duration – we will have the hall marked out to indicate the seating plan. We would ask that audience members do not congregate in certain areas (such as toilets, entry/exit or refreshment points) which could make physical distancing difficult.
• Masks must be worn when moving around.
• There will be table service for drinks orders from the bar adjoining the venue. Please note that the bar is CASH ONLY.
• We will need to take contact details of all attendees.

Quotes from last gig's audience:

I had a fantastic time last night - thanks so much. The drinks service in the Hall was fabulous

We thought the layout was well laid out and liked the names on the chairs. Drinks service excellent.  Also liked the musicians being in a rectangle in the middle. It all felt safe.

*I really enjoyed the gig. The atmosphere was great. The spaced seating added to the feeling of security and the drinks service kept moving about to a minimum. Very well thought out.

The performance area ‘in the round’ worked very well and added to the ‘Jazz Club’ feel as did the smoke machine and lighting.

*Sound: The level balance and sound were perfect (as far as I can tell from a technical point of view). The acoustics of the room I think isn’t ideal, but it really didn’t bother me much.

Layout: Interesting touch that circle. Like a traditional theatre. I suppose it gave you a convenient way to impose social distancing.

Social distancing: You couldn’t do any better. It’s a big hall and people are pretty far apart and in a circle, you have at most 2-3 parties around you each 2 or more metres away. Perfect!

*We really, really enjoyed it, fantastic gig.

Thought the sound was excellent, easily better than at the Outhouse and
better than many gigs we've seen. Perhaps the layout and proximity helped
too. The layout was miles better than everyone being in rows facing the same way. Distancing felt fine - again better or as good as most pubs /
restaurants.

The drinks service was lovely and done with some real charm.

So, 10 out of 10.
